It all began with an obsession for stones, specifically Portland stone paving slabs. After etching photographic images of the stones into photopolymer steel plates I printed these using Victorian presses (manufactured around the same time as the Portland slabs). Following on the theme of stone pathways surrounding 7 Stone Buildings, this monoprint was created using a photograph of one of the distinct paving slabs just outside Maitland Chambers, Lincoln’s Inn, London. The image was etched into photopolymer steel plates. The plates were then inked up in two colours and printed using Victorian printmaking presses in keeping with the age of Stone Buildings.
